Our June issue of The Nomad is on its way to members, you will find in the centre of the magazine a small version of the ACC caravan sticker. This is being supplied to all members, and we request that they be affixed to the inside front windscreen of your motor vehicle.
Please be aware that if you have aftermarket tinting on your side or rear windows and if you place the sticker on these, the film may be damaged if the sticker is later removed.
Members can purchase up to an additional 3 stickers at a cost of $1.00 for each sticker, inclusive of postage.
We now have copies available of the Caravan Industry Towing Guide and a DVD from Hayman Reese on the correct fitting and use of towing equipment.
To obtain either or both of these items, please email the Secretary at
We received this note from Sid & Marilyn, fellow travellers and members of the CMCA.
----------------------
We have only been members [of the CMCA] for the last 20 months and have travelled the east coast and central QLD and NSW and Tasmania but in that short time we have met and befriended many wonderful nomads of all persuasions, and like all travellers we kept a record and diary of our meetings, names addresses phone numbers etc..
This last xmas New year break saw us back in Kinglake West Victoria helping out at the Kids place house sitting and looking after horses and pets etc as you do while they had a well earned holiday.
All did not go well as I suffered a heart attack on Dec 28th.
The recovery time had delayed our departure which brought us up to Black Saturday Feb 7th, when as we all know now fate decided to deal everyone it's deadly blow including us, as we also lost all our possesions, all that is except our motorhome in which we escaped by the skin on our teeth to Yea for the weekend. Fortunately we were invited to a dear friends house in Lalor near Melbourne where we are slowly replacing the contents of the motorhome which we were using inside the house.
Included in the list of items was all of our records, photo's names addresses etc maps 4 and recorde of some good sites that we have been to, so if any of our friends and readers recognize our name and logo we would be very happy to hear from you.
Before i sign off I must let you all know that never was the club motto more appropriate than during our ordeal as it was all we had left, "Laugh more Live longer".

After a particularly slow day on Thursday, slow due to the 46C heat, the overall attendance was a near record. On the Saturday, attendance was well over 10000 people. Our stand was very well sited and gave those manning it maximum opportunity to "sell" the ACC, which the team did to best advantage. Many enquirers had already heard of the ACC, a refreshing feeling in that knowledge was felt by all and provided more impetus to our efforts.
All of the people whom we were able to engage in conversation were very keen to get a full rundown on the ACC, and many expressed the opinion that they would give positive thought to joining. So far it seems to have some success with new members already coming in, although it will be some months before we can truly gauge the extent of new membership.
All in all, the show was quite successful, particularly as it was the first effort in Adelaide. The team of volunteers are to be congratulated for the effort they put in, and their enthusiasm for the future of the ACC. It was a pleasure to work with them.

The Australian Caravan Club was launched in September 2006, when some forward thinking caravanners perceived a real need for a truly representative national organisation to meet the wide variety of interests and needs of caravanners and camper-trailer owners. Our objectives are clearly set out in our Constitution.
Existing caravan clubs and Associations do an excellent job running social and rallying activities for caravanners, but do not appear to be a single body able, or wishing, to speak up on National issues. We see ourselves, in part, as a lobby group - not as an organisation set up to attack the RV industry – but rather to work with existing organisations for the benefit of all caravanners and camper-trailer owners.
The Australian Caravan Club was set up using the model of the UK's ‘The Caravan Club’ - an organisation with huge benefits for members with a current membership of more than 300,000.
We have appointed three dynamic committees to look after Independent Camping, Marketing and our annual National Muster and AGM. These committees are doing sterling work – the Independent Camping Committee is responsible for liaison and lobbying of Government bodies and other authorities to see that facilities for caravanners are not only maintained but improved.
Our Marketing Committee has successfully organised our participation in two major caravan shows – in Sydney and Brisbane - and has developed a healthy relationship with trade advertisers and sponsors to enhance our activities and provide more benefits for members.
It was never intended that the ACC would be in competition with existing caravan and camper-trailer clubs - we believe there is room for both types of organisations and many caravanners hold dual memberships including our Chairman and another Director.
A number of local branches have been formed with Tasmania the only State still to establish a branch. Our branches organise social weekends called ‘Musters’ and similar activities including our first ‘tag-along’ tour.
An informal alliance has recently been entered into with the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA), the National Association of Caravan Clubs (NACC) and the Australasian Touring Caravan, Motorhome and Camping Club (ATCMCC) to form an organisation which will be known as MoTouring to provide a strong lobby group on issues affecting all RVers.
Unlike other clubs that are State-based incorporated bodies, the ACC is an Australian Registered Company that reflects our truly National identity. Our club is managed by a Board of six Directors elected by our club members at our Annual Meeting. All directors are dedicated volunteers who receive no remuneration for their work.
Although our registered office is in Queensland, our club is a National body with members from every State plus the ACT and the Northern Territory.
